1. GO TO A BOOKSTORE
I LOVE BOOKSTORES. Head out to your local bookstore (Chapters/Indigo, Barnes & Noble) and sit down with a latte and read some books or magazines. You can also bring your laptop and do some writing as you will likely feel inspired being surrounded by books of every genre. This truly is one of my favorite things to do on a weekday evening or rainy Sunday.
2. TEST DRIVE A CAR
Go to your local auto mall or dealership and test drive a vehicle that you can’t afford to buy. All you need is your license and a bit of charm and most places will let you take the vehicle of your choice out for a boot. You make have to take a salesman with you, but hey, if you are single this might be a great way to meet someone new.
3. FLEA MARKETS/ FARMERS MARKETS
One of my favorite things to do on a weekend is go to flea markets and farmers markets. Almost every community has these events and you don’t have to spend money to have fun. If you don’t have flea markets, spend a day searching for garage sales. You never know what treasures you might find.
4. VOLUNTEER IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and give back to your community. It makes you feel good about yourself and you are making a difference. Find a organization or cause that you are passionate about and get involved. I have been volunteering for over a decade and it’s a great way to add to your resume.
5. HOME SPA DAY
I love to go to Lush and pick out some great smelling bath bombs and then plan a night at home to pamper myself. You can find some great ideas online to make natural facial masks from items you have in your fridge. Once you have enjoyed a long soak in the tub. Whip up a mask, tie back your hair, and get that youthful glow back in your skin. You can then do a at home mani and pedi and finish the evening off watching your favorite classic movie.
6. GET A LITTLE ARTSY
Check out your local “What’s Happening” online site in your community and head out to do something fun like attend a play or art show. Do something that you wouldn’t normally do and get out of your comfort zone. This is also a great way to meet new people. Many times these events are free or ticket costs are inexpensive.
7. GO ON A RANDOM ROAD TRIP
Pack a picnic and head out on a random road trip. There are so many places that have yet to be explored. Check out the internet for some destination ideas and just fill up and go. Some of the best day trips I have had, have been ones that I didn’t have a set destination in mind.
